What Do We Do About Wearable Technology?

This excellent article in Law Technology News, by Scott Christensen of Edwards Wildman Palmer, outlines the myriad of challenges presented by the growing use of wearable technology. Christensen points to the Gartner, Inc. statistic that there will be about 26 billion wearable devices connected to the internet by 2020 collecting data about people’s daily lives. While the devices offer many benefits, they raise just as many challenges notes the author, including data storage, ownership and security as well as laws that have not kept up with technology advancement. The author also enumerates the concerns businesses will face balancing user desires for the devices against potential risk. Mr. Christensen concludes by offering advice on how to address the challenges these devices present.
